About GrantPlain
GrantPlain is a free, independent resource that helps individuals, small businesses, startups, and nonprofits find government grants, loans, and funding programs they qualify for. Our database currently tracks 1,330+ federal and state programs and is refreshed every day.
Our Mission
Government funding exists to help people and businesses grow, but the information is scattered across hundreds of agency websites and buried in dense application language. We bring those opportunities into one place, translate the requirements into plain English, and make them searchable by state, industry, and business type — at no cost.
How We Source Our Data
Every listing originates from an official government or public source. We do not accept paid placements, and no organization can buy its way into our database or rankings. Our primary sources include:
- Grants.gov — the federal clearinghouse for grant opportunities across all U.S. agencies
- The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA.gov) — loan, microloan, and business development programs
- Federal agency pages — USDA, DOE, NIH, NSF, the Department of State, and others that administer their own funding
- State economic development offices — programs that never appear on federal portals
How We Keep Listings Accurate
- Daily updates. An automated pipeline checks our sources every day for new programs, amount changes, and deadline updates.
- A “last updated” date is shown on every grant page so you always know how current the information is.
- A direct link to the official source appears on every listing. We point you to the issuing agency rather than collecting applications ourselves.
- Expired programs are flagged and rotated out so you spend time only on opportunities that are still open.
Editorial Standards
GrantPlain is reader-first. We are funded by advertising, never by the agencies or programs we list, so our coverage stays neutral. We don’t charge application fees, we don’t sell your data, and we clearly label anything that is an advertisement. When information can’t be verified against an official source, we leave it out rather than guess.
Who Runs GrantPlain
GrantPlain is operated by an independent team of researchers and builders who believe public funding information should be easy to find and free to use. We are not a government agency and we are not a grant writer or consultant — we are a directory and education resource. Have a correction, a question, or a program we should add? Contact us and we’ll take a look.
Disclaimer
GrantPlain is an independent informational resource and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any federal, state, or local government agency. The information provided on this site is for general informational purposes only and should not be construed as legal or financial advice. We make every effort to keep our information accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee the accuracy of all listings. Always verify grant details directly with the issuing agency before applying. Beware of any program that asks you to pay a fee to apply for a government grant — legitimate government programs never do.
